Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Every SnapToolz tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Files are read locally, processed in memory, and the result is offered as a download. There is no backend.
What's the best aspect ratio for YouTube thumbnails?
1280×720 (16:9) is YouTube's standard recommendation — that's what the Thumbnail Resizer's preset produces. For Shorts use 1080×1920 (9:16). The Resizer has both presets locked in with cover / contain / blur-fill rendering modes.
Can I use SnapToolz for Instagram Reels and TikTok covers too?
Yes — 1080×1920 (9:16 vertical) is the standard cover size across YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Snapchat. The Shorts Thumbnail Generator and TikTok Cover Maker both target that canvas, with platform-specific safe-area overlays so your text and focal points stay clear of each platform's UI.
Is the YouTube Thumbnail Downloader a video downloader?
No. It only fetches the public thumbnail image (the same JPG anyone sees on the video page from i.ytimg.com). We never download video content and never will — SnapToolz is not a YouTube ripper.
Does the Social Compression Toolkit avoid WhatsApp's quality crush?
Yes — that's exactly what the WhatsApp preset is tuned for. WhatsApp aggressively re-compresses any image larger than ~1280px or higher quality than ~85%. Pre-compressing to the WhatsApp 'happy zone' means there's nothing left for WhatsApp's pipeline to recompress.
What sizes does the favicon generator produce?
16, 32, 180 (Apple touch), 192, 512, plus the 512×512 maskable variant for PWAs. All are PNGs sized correctly for their use.
Can I print a generated QR code?
Yes — pick SVG export for print-quality scaling at any size. PNG is fine for screen and small prints.
Is everything free?
Yes — every tool in this category and on the entire site is free with no sign-up, no daily limit, and no watermark.
