Rule of thumb: Remove and Extract are inverses that both return one file; Split returns many; Organize is the visual editor when a comma-separated range list can't express what you want.
Before you delete: a two-minute checklist
- Confirm the page numbers against the real document — a viewer that shows a cover as ‘page 0’ or uses printed folios can be off by one from the tool's 1-based count.
- Watch the live counter — it shows how many pages will remain before you commit, so a fat-fingered range is caught early.
- Deleting a signature or certification page can invalidate a signed PDF; re-sign afterwards with Sign PDF if needed.
- If the file is confidential, remember Remove drops whole pages but doesn't scrub text on the pages you keep — for that, reach for Redact PDF.
- Removing pages leaves the file smaller but not re-compressed; if you need it genuinely small, follow up with Compress PDF.
Frequently asked questions about Remove Pages
What's the difference between Remove Pages and Split PDF?
Remove deletes the pages you name and hands back one PDF containing everything else. Split does the opposite job — it carves a document into several files by range or per page. Use Remove to drop a blank scan or a confidential appendix; use Split when you need the pages as separate documents.
Can I remove non-consecutive pages in one pass?
Yes. Mix single pages and ranges freely — 1, 4, 8-10, 15 removes all of those in one run. The preview counter updates as you type, and the run button stays disabled until the range parses cleanly against the page count.
Are the kept pages re-compressed or altered?
No. Kept pages are copied into the new PDF as-is — text stays selectable, and annotations, links and images are preserved. The file is smaller only because pages are gone; nothing is downsampled or re-rendered.
What happens to bookmarks that pointed at a removed page?
The surviving pages keep their content, but a bookmark or internal link that targeted a deleted page has nowhere to land and is dropped. If precise cross-references matter, re-check them after removing pages.
