About Add Page Numbers
Add page numbers to any PDF — useful for printable reports, exam papers, legal exhibits, or any document that's going through a workflow where 'page 7 of 42' matters. SnapToolz lets you pick the position (six corner/centre options), format (1, 1/N, Page 1, Page 1 of N, or Roman i, ii, iii), starting number, font size, and skip-first-page toggle. The numbers are baked into the PDF as a new content stream layered on top of each page — original content is untouched, and the result opens identically in every viewer. Runs locally, no upload.

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Every tool on SnapToolz runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your file is read locally, processed in memory, and the result is offered as a download. Nothing is sent to a server — there isn't one to send to.
Can I start numbering from page 2 or beyond?
Yes — toggle Skip first page to leave page 1 blank (useful for cover/title pages). For more complex starting points (e.g. skip the table of contents), use the Starting number field to begin from any value.
Will the numbers cover up content on dense pages?
The numbers are placed in the page margin by default. If your PDF has content all the way to the edge, switch to top-right or bottom-right corners with a smaller font size to minimise overlap. For tight layouts, crop the PDF first to add explicit margins.
Can I use Roman numerals or custom formats?
Yes — the format selector includes Roman (i, ii, iii…), Page N, Page N of M, and bare numbers. For custom prefixes/suffixes, hand-edit the format string.
Does it work offline?
Yes. SnapToolz is a Progressive Web App. After your first visit, the app is cached on your device and every tool keeps working without an internet connection.
Is SnapToolz free?
Yes — every tool is 100% free with no sign-up, no watermark, no hidden tier. The whole platform is open source and we have no plan to gate features.
